The participants are allowed to do the following:
  • Add any Effects to the Photos and Clip/s.
  • Adjust the settings of the Effects.
  • Add or replace Objects to the Project and edit or replace Materials.
  • Participants can submit only one submission per License.

The participants are not allowed to do the following:
  • Change the camera angle of the Photos or change the Clips.
  • Remove any Objects (replaced does not mean remove) or Materials from the Project.
  • Add Imported Models or any other external data to the Project.

Please note: Not following the above rules may result in disqualification.

Important notes:
  • By submitting an entry, you agree to allow Lumion to share renders of your work on our website and official social media channels.
  • The winners will be contacted after the official announcement for additional signed consent, allowing Act-3D B.V. (Lumion) usage of their models.
  • If the Style is from an older version of Lumion, if it wins, it may be subjected to a few readjustments and optimization to fit the newer version.
  • Users with Student License Keys can participate only using the latest version of Lumion 2024 (2024.4.3).

7. What is the deadline?
  • Submissions are accepted starting today.
  • The submission/registration period ends on the 16th of April, 2025, 23:59 GMT.
  • The results will be announced on the 5th of May, 2025, at 11:59 AM GMT.

8. Assessment Criteria:
  • The versatility of the style (How adaptable is the Style? Can it be used in many different scenarios?)
  • The output quality of the Style (Does the Style produce high-quality renders that are visually appealing, professional, and impactful?)
  • Uniqueness of the Style. (How original and creative is the Style? Does it stand out from existing Styles and offer something fresh to the Lumion community?)
For this competition, we are glad to also welcome Nuno Silva, as our guest juror.

We look forward to your submissions and participation in this Lumion Challenge!

For any questions, please post them here or contact the Technical Support Team Monday-Friday using the link below:

Thank you all and good luck. 😊

Hello
To make sure I have understood the rules of the contest. :
- In the case of an object replacement, is it compulsory to use an object from the same category? Is it possible, for example, to replace a tree with a plant or an armchair with a sofa?
- Still in the case of object replacement, is it compulsory to respect the positioning (location / orientation / scale)? For example, there are several objects (leaves) in the pool, can they be moved?
- Can we modify the values (type / intensity / colors / orientation / localisation) of the lights (objects) present in the scene?

- Is post-production allowed (e.g. using Photoshop for photos)?

Just a quick comment.
From an architectural point of view, to render the scene as realistically as possible, some of the materials attribution on the elements of the scene are rather strange and therefore penalizing (but perhaps this is intentional?). For example, the wall at the back of the bar (behind the line of bottles) has the same material as the wooden shutters upstairs, or the ceiling on the ground floor has the same material as the roof cap (in the event that, on the outside view, I would like to have a metal roof cap, this material would be totally inappropriate for the inside view)
Finally, just for fun, I'd like to point out that some of the labels on the wine bottles are inverted, and that one of the glasses on the bar is about to break on the floor.

thank you for this contest and, in advance, thank you for the answers to come

Hi woochou,

I'll answer your questions one by one:

In the case of an object replacement, is it compulsory to use an object from the same category? Is it possible, for example, to replace a tree with a plant or an armchair with a sofa?

No, you can use any Object from the Lumion Library.

Still in the case of object replacement, is it compulsory to respect the positioning (location / orientation / scale)? For example, there are several objects (leaves) in the pool, can they be moved?

The position, yes, should be the same (of course if it is slightly moved, meaning a couple of cm from the original position just so it can fit, is ok). The orientation, scale, and rotation can be modified. The leaves can be moved in the same manner, a couple of cm from their original position for design purposes, but not removed or, for example, moved the ones in the pool outside the pool.

Can we modify the values (type / intensity / colors / orientation / localisation) of the lights (objects) present in the scene?

You can modify the type, intensity, colors, or orientation, but not the position.

Is post-production allowed (e.g. using Photoshop for photos)?

That is not allowed.

The challenge is to create a Style that can fit different situations. Those Materials being the same is one of them.

Finally, just for fun, I'd like to point out that some of the labels on the wine bottles are inverted, and that one of the glasses on the bar is about to break on the floor.

I think that glass is more on the table than in the air 😁.

Adding to what Mihnea mentioned 🙋‍♀️

This competition is all about creating a new Style (or multiple styles) to help the project reach its full potential. The goal isn’t to change the Scene, but to enhance and refine its look while keeping its core structure intact.

You can add objects from the Lumion Library, replace existing ones, and edit or replace materials, but removing anything from the original setup isn’t allowed. The scene should still be recognizable, just with your unique stylistic approach.

While object replacement is permitted, it's essential to maintain the scene’s integrity and focus on enhancing the Style rather than transforming it.

Ultimately, the challenge is about bringing out the project's maximum potential through a Style - an Effects Stack.

Good luck!

Hello,

Can we use LUTs? Also, is it possible to replace all plants with alternatives from the library, same for furniture replacements?

I’m a bit confused about the "Do" and "Don’t" bullet points—for example, "Do" point 3 and "Don’t" point 2 seem contradictory. Could you clarify?

And can we add decals?

Hi asquaredstudio,

You can use LUTs as long as you are the author.

You can replace all the plants with other objects and same for furniture, but don't delete any.

The Do (3) and Don't (2) is easy to clarify with a couple of examples:

1. For objects - if a vase on a table, you are allowed to replace it with another object. However, if an object is at the given location, you are not allowed to completely remove the existence of said object (or the one you replaced it with) from that location.

2. For materials - if an object has a material added to it, you can replace or modify it but not remove it.

Regarding Decals: yes you can add.

What is set in the .LS file is the imposed format. The resolution is irrelevant.

Example:
Photo 1 is set to 16:9 Aspect Ratio. You need to render it at 16:9.
It doesn't matter if the resolution you render at is 1280x720 or 1920x1080 or 3840x2160.

Does this apply for the duration and speed of the clips aswell?

Hi armandomes

Changing those would change the nature of the outputs. So they should not be changed, as in no change to the Aspect Ratio.

Noting that the Competition is about creating a nice Effect Stack that could be used as a Style. The outputs are only there to see how the Effects-Style changes/improves the rendering results. And we would need to see that the outputs are consistent across all entrants applications (resolution does not affect that ability but speed/duration would).

Thanks, I forgot them !
So ‘sounds’ objects are not affected by the ‘Add or replace Objects to the Project’ ban? Can the other objects in the ‘Effects’ category be added to the project (fountains, fire, smoke, fog, leaves, decals, parallax)?
I've read here that it's already possible to add lights...
