Why do my Panoramas with the RT effect always turn out so blotchy like in the below image?

Hi Cslaten,

As Gilson suggested (thanks btw)

There is a thread on this topic that breaks it down pretty well

You can also refer to our articles that detail the current workflow and limitations:

Hi Peter
Yes, I rendered it using a star.
If I simply disable Raytrace, I have this result:

After increasing the intensity of the light area, apply the "shadows" filter and reduce the "Ominishadow" effect to lighten the ends of the walls:

EDIT:
After applying the reflection filter and adding other shadow adjustments:

In my opinion, the Ray Trace renders are incomparable, I can't wait for the moment when it is finished with the integration of vegetation and animated people.

Thanks Gilson.

The Ray Trace and the Rasterization (render 2, 3 is not near) do seem quite similar.

I'll do some further tests and look to including your workaround in our article.

Many thanks for the suggestion , especially because I would normally tend to not add extra lights to avoid creating too much light and getting patchy/blotchy looking results from too low a Sample rate.

Can you also share your LSF Project file with us. Thanks in advance if you can.

Cslaten...are those radiused walls with paneling/crown....and paneling headed upstairs...and sweeet return on your handrail. Sheesh. Keep up the great work!!!!!!
Thanks! We've worked hard to develop a Revit to Lumion workflow that allows us to iterate renderings very quickly while still being able to use the model for the lifespan of the project (for cds ect, not just for renderings). Glad to see someone appreciate the details! The new Raytrace ability has upped our game. Now if we can just get the 3Ds on the same level.

Yes, I went through all of these and per @Gilson Antunes suggestion, the rendering I did was already at 1 star. I was trying to light the majority of the space with just sun, which is why it appears dark right now. One thought was that the glossiness of the plaster walls was creating the blotches, but I also don't want sacrifice the gloss in the renderings if possible. I can try brightening it up but so far this isn't helping.

Quick question, which light sources are supported with Raytrace? I was under the impression that the area lights didn't work, or at least they weren't showing up in the render.

Hi Cslaten

Only Fill Lights are not included in the Ray Tracing pipeline.

Sunlight, Spotlights, Omni Lights, Area Lights, HDR skies, and Emissive Materials are now using the same unified system.

Fill Lights are not included for Ray Tracing. They cast no shadows and are only useable for the Rasterization rendering pipeline.
