News [RESOLVED] RTX 5000 series NVIDIA driver issues with Lumion 12 and older versions, also affecting Lumion 2024

Are there any options available until things are fixed? For example, as it affects Lumion 12 then presumably you had an existing PC or graphics card running Lumion 12, until the change to the RTX 5000 series card? Or has that gone?

We are in the process of a new push with Nvidia in combination with our developers to try and get the driver issue sorted.
Given it is a driver issue with Nvidia we have no real idea as yet why that could occur.
For some perspective:
The drivers for other cards up to the new 5000 series all worked fine with Lumion 12 and older. This issue only occurred with the new drivers released as part of the release of the 5000 series.
One the one hand it looks like it rests with the software because the RTX 5000 series does work OK with Lumion 2024. But our developer's advice is that the problem lies with the driver changes.
There was an issue with drivers some time ago that did affect the display similar to what is being seen now. Back then there was luckily a workaround using a change in profile. That has been tested here and unfortunately does not work. So we are reliant on Nvidia to identify and provide a fix. The issue has been reported to Nvidia and any feedback from our community to them is welcome.
Whilst it is very understandable to want to get the new hardware, it is important to note that using it in combination with older software may create unexpected results if drivers are not optimized for it. Lumion 12 and older versions that display the issue have not been subject to any changes since May 2022. If you chose to still run Lumion 12 or older, then the only solution is to wait until the driver fix occurs or use different hardware. You will notice that the hardware compatibility articles are version specific.
Some options in the meantime to consider:
1. If you still have existing hardware that you had been using, then please fall back to using that alongside an older version of Lumion. Lumion 2023.0 and newer are not affected and using the 50x0 series of Nvidia is perfectly viable.
2. If an older graphics card is not available, then perhaps an older PC can be found that meets the system requirements for your current Lumion version.
3. Consider some short-term access via an online service:

We do expect Nvidia to fix the issue in the near future as they have acknowledged our reports. This option is a practical alternative in case you need to finish a project. A newer version of Lumion will always have better compatibility with the newer hardware.
5. If the hardware is critical, for example you have no access to any other that works with Lumion 12, then perhaps there is the option to do a return and change/swap for a similar performing alternative such as an NVidia 4000 card (if available) or an AMD Radeon card.
If you are unsure about things, please contact us before making a decision to get the RTX 5000 series cards, until this is all sorted.

We have had a few Lumion 2024 users now confirm that reinstalling the prior driver version 572.83 (Tue Mar 18, 2025) and also an earlier one 572.60 (Thu Feb 27, 2025) has fixed the issue with the latest driver version.
Our internal tests so far showed 572.83 did work.

Hello,
The new 576.02 and 576.15 upgrades from nvidia still does not fix the issue, and I receive now a message from lumion saying we Lumion 12 users, should upgrade to Lumion 2024, which is unacceptable for me. Is this a way to get more money from lumion users? In that case I'll probably switch to twinmotion

It has nothing to do with us. The Lumion 12 issue is an oversight from Nvidia in their drivers.
The Lumion 2024 crashes were also unexpected and they are fixed through a hotfix, not an official driver.

The GeForce 576.28 WHQL graphics driver was provided by Nvidia.
Since I don't own an RTX 5xxx, I can't test it.
I can only confirm that I have no problems with the new driver.

Thanks for the heads up!
That is the official release from Nvidia for Lumion 24 crashing with their driver. They added the hotfix from last week in their official installation package.
It, unfortunately, doesn't fix the UI issues for Lumion 12 and older users on the 5000 series.
