We are having the same issue. It does seem to matter how much geometry is visible. But we are not pushing anything we have not done before.
reverted to 577, still crashes... only improvement is that the preview will render. but when I go to fully render the program just terminates, no prompt.message... not a fun day

Hi

As in first post:

Update 2: 27/08): Status: RESOLVED 26 August 2025

Our developers found that there was a change in how NVidia drivers managed certain Ray Tracing actions. This affected the NRD Denoiser and explained why the issue would occur with Ray Tracing. As such they were able to make a change in Lumion and the new release for Lumion 2025.1.0 should now fix this issue.

Please try updating your driver to the most recent:

See section 3.4: Effects & Styles > Ray Tracing:

Ray Tracing Effect: Fixed a crash that could occur when rendering with NRD while using the latest NVIDIA drivers from version 580.88.

We suggest using the latest Nvidia GeForce driver: 581.08 - WHQL or newer.

Hello, I just wanted to give a big thank you to the technical team who, after submitting my bug report, discovered the error that was preventing ray tracing from working without crashing.

In my case, even with the latest drivers and also reverting to driver 577 with RT enabled, Lumion would crash. On the technical team's recommendation, after submitting the error logs, I repaired the Microsoft VC++ redistributables from the Lumion installation folder (e.g., D:\03_PROGRAMS\LUMION 2025\Various\Redist2015-2022), and now with version 2025.1 and the latest Nvidia RT drivers, it works as before.

So, if you can navigate the preview with RT enabled and the final render crashes, you might be experiencing this issue.

Cheers.

576.4 (May) on an RTX 3090 running fine but other computers in the office with windows updates are experiences the crashes. Likely from automatic driver updates (July and Aug).

I had the VBS issues as well which needed a reinstall after Lumion 2025 or 2025.0.2 was installed.

I've learned to not update anything.....

Hi HAL9000

If you require assistance or clarification please don't hesitate to contact us:
Quick Minor Update, a user with 25.1 was having issues and once the older version of 2024 was removed the issue went away.
I hope this helps add some suggestion for similar users unable to fix their issue.
Any idea what effect 2024 would have on a 2025.1 ?

Hi HAL9000,

Thanks a lot for the update.

That is quite interesting. Lumion 2024 and Lumion 2025 use completely separate installation and Documents folders, so they should not conflict with each other or interfere.

Could you let us know:
  • What exactly was the issue for the 25.1 user before uninstalling 2024?
  • Was it crashing at launch, during rendering, or when loading a Project?
Any extra context would really help us investigate this deeper and improve guidance for others running into something similar.

Thanks again in advance!

Hi everyone,

We want to inform you of a compatibility issue affecting the latest NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 580.88 only, released today (July 31, 2025).

We’ve discovered that this driver can cause Lumion to crash when using Ray Tracing, particularly when attempting to run the High Quality Preview for rendering. Our team is actively investigating the root cause.

See also Updates (below).

What You Should Do

Please DO NOT update to driver version 580.88 if you're using Lumion 2025 and rely on Ray Tracing.

If you’ve already updated and are experiencing crashes, we recommend rolling back to Driver Version: 577.00 (Released on July 22, 2025).

You can find and download previous driver versions from the NVIDIA driver archive.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you updated as soon as we have more information or a resolution.

Thank you for your understanding,

The Lumion Team

Update 1 (1/08):

This is a driver issue and is also be affecting some other software and games.

So far we have reports that some tested 5000 series cards are unaffected (5090, 5080).

Nvidia Pro series ADA cards such as the A4000 are unaffected as the driver is different and not the GeForce driver, and last released 17th July (R570 U7 (573.48)).

Nvidia Studio drivers are not yet affected, with last release was at Jul 22, 2025 for 577.00.

Hi ! i had this issue with the driver 580.88 and then reverted to 577.00 and everything was fine. today i went to check in if the issue was reselved and saw that it was so i updated my driver to this one : 581.15 released on August 28 and got the crash again !

i reverted back to 577.00 again, but i was wondering if i was the only one that still had the issue even with this new driver ?

Thank you very much :)

Thanks for confirming that.

We'll try and look into it, but there are many possible causes for such.
Would be useful if the crashes were reported to us earlier by the user, to investigate directly about the PC settings etc.
This all happened in a single day.

More specific info. Original State: Lumion 2024 plus Lumion 2025.0.2 was installed and worked as expected, then Windows Update to Windows 11, crashes on photo mode rendering. Then IT updates to 25.1 plus all the C++ and updated drivers to try and solve the issue based on Forum recommendations. Then crashes opening the files start to happen. Removed all old versions of Lumion and things seem to be fixed now, FOR THIS USER ONLY.

Since we are limited to installing things as users it takes a little bit to get IT help and resolves these things.

Hi HAL9000

Thanks for the further background.

So the trigger was the Windows Update to 11. Not expected, but can happen.

As Javier mentioned before removal of the other versions is definitely not expected to help fix the issues reported, as each version is completely separate and does not rely on other common application components, other than those common to using Windows when running from its own installation calls.

We would expect that the steps the IT took to initially fix things to have worked: VC Runtimes, and drivers to reset the required state for Lumion (not that those are specific to Lumion, but other states of same could impact, as here).

Removal of all versions would have the consequence of freeing up file space affected opening of files, and I wonder if it was then a simple case of then having at least 30GB free on the OS.

In any case, thanks again for the further details. And a very strong reminder, any issues like that or anything, please contact us immediately so we can advise and assist in resolving. At the least get to log the states of that PC. We are available 24/5 and have a rapid response team to help.
